La Dame Du Lac

So for all my French friends out there, this is nothing new, but as I began studying parkour recently, I found one of the most interesting things about the sport is its unique history. Not only was it almost completely founded by a small group of guys (incl. David Belle and Sebastien Foucan) in Lisses, but it seemed to center around this iconic and beautiful architectural climbing structure there called La Dame Du Lac, that is The Lady of the Lake for all you English speakers. That this that an entire sport, this lifestyle and this discipline, can all be traced back to a small town, a small group of people and almost exclusively to this monumental sculpture is one of the most fascinatingly beautiful things. Its like the holy grail for traceurs. They take pilgrimages there to learn and train.

Here is the classic David Belle video for those not in the know.

enjoy.
